Congratulations Rebecca Brock!

June 27, 2003 - Boise, ID - Rebecca Brock is the 2003 Idaho Veterinary Medical Association's Technician of the Year. Rebecca was unable to attend the Jackson Hole Veterinary Rendezvous in order to receive her prestigious award. Instead the award was presented to her at her place of employment, The Cat Doctor Veterinary Hospital & Hotel, PA.

Rebecca was nominated by Dr. Kerry Fost. In Dr. Fost's nomination she claimed "Rebecca is an outstanding technician". Rebecca has worked at The Cat Doctor for 4 years and 9 months. Rebecca anticipates needs of the veterinarians before they do! She helps a stressful day pass quickly and Dr. Fost says: "A great technician is worth their weight in gold and is priceless to a busy veterinary practice."

Rebecca is known to be sensitive, caring and gentle with her patients. She is a great communicator with clients who she counsels and educates when appropriate. She is knowledgeable, fast and efficient. Rebecca can handle a fractious cat, place an inter venous catheter, intubate or do a cystocentesis better than most. She was instrumental in starting the Treasure Valley technician study group to prepare for the Idaho state licensing examination. This group has now organized and formed the Treasure Valley Local Chapter of the Idaho Society of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants of which Rebecca is the Chair. The first Idaho Society newsletter came out in June 2003 and a continuing education meeting was held on June 11, 2003. Rebecca is also a level 2 technician with the Idaho Veterinary Emergency Response Team.
